Goal: Teaching students the long-term benefits of avoiding risky behavior and developing healthy, sensible goals that set students on a path to success.

Reaching Destinations is a free, Sexual Risk Avoidance education program available for public and private schools in Huntingdon, Blair, Mifflin, and Juniata counties.

For Teachers

Structure:

Our intention is to partner with classroom teachers to support their students in building healthy relationships and future families. We use the Relationships Under Construction curriculum, which is designed to be taught in a classroom setting for 4-5 consecutive days. We work with each school district to suit their classroom schedule. All that Reaching Destinations offers is completely free of charge and taught by certified instructors.

Our curriculum is:

  • Medically accurate and complete
  • Age-appropriate
  • Based on adolescent learning and developmental theories
  • Culturally appropriate, reaching youth from diverse backgrounds and communities

Sexual Risk Avoidance Curriculum options:

  • 5th Grade: Constructing Safe Relationships (CSR), Social Health
  • 6th Grade: Relationships Under Constructions (RUC), Building Healthy Relationships & Future Families
  • 7th – 12th Grade: Age-appropriate iterations of CSR and RUC are both available for each high school grade.

Deanne and her team of contracted speakers are currently scheduling schools for the 2024-2025 school year.

We are also looking to add more speakers, who will be thoroughly trained in our SRA curriculum so that we can expand our program to more schools, particularly Blair County. Training is provided to those who apply and go through the hiring process. Time and travel expenses are paid. Hours and times are flexible.
